The Mohave Valley Governing Board adopted the 2017-18 School Calendar at their March Board Meeting. Superintendent Whitney Crow noted that the calendar follows true to past years' calendars, aligning one week of spring break with the Colorado River High School District's spring break, and keeping Christmas Break the same between the two districts in order to accommodate parents with kids in both districts.
The only real change comes in pushing the start and end date back one week, adding a second set of conference days to January, and a day off in the fourth quarter to break up the long span without any days off.
The board also approved the new teacher salary schedule for the coming year, raising the base salary to $45,000. This move becomes possible due to the voter-approved override election from this past fall, where voters approved increasing the district's budget capacity by 15% to allow for the additional funding.
